Should I Move Out While Installing New Floating LVP Floors?

I'm having new floating LVP floors installed in my entire downstairs, and while I know I can walk on them right away, I'm considering whether it's best to completely move out for the duration of the installation. The process will take about 4-5 days, and I'm thinking of staying with family just a couple of streets away. This way, I can easily check in if needed. I trust the workers since I know the daughter of the installer, but I also want to be cautious. Would it really be worth it to move out entirely, or is it okay to be around during the installation?

It just makes sense to give the installers some space. You'll stress less about being underfoot and they can work more efficiently without you there. But, if you're worried about the quality of work, you might want to keep an eye on them just in case.

That’s true! If you have bad luck with installers, it’s good to keep tabs on what’s happening.

Honestly, installing floating LVP isn't a super messy job. There aren't many cuts involved, so you might be able to stay as long as you're out of their way. Just keep in mind they might need space to move things around and cut planks.

We plan to move everything to the garage, keeping just the kitchen appliances. It should work.

It might be easier for both you and the installers if you move out, but it's not entirely necessary. It can get pricey and inconvenient, especially if you're only a couple of streets away with family to stay with. If you're worried about costs, maybe just consider staying out of the way instead?

Yeah, staying with family sounds great! That way, you won't spend on hotels and can pop in as needed.

If you've got a free place to crash nearby, I’d definitely take that option. You'll avoid the mess and hassle, and you can check in whenever you want without being in the way.
