Should I DIY my dishwasher flooring repair or hire a pro?

I've got a bit of a situation with my dishwasher and the flooring around it. For a while now, there's been a leak, and it's really messed up the laminate flooring — it's all bubbled up. I'm planning to replace the dishwasher, but I think I might also need to cut out and replace some of the subfloor underneath since it's probably damaged too. I have 8 planks of the original laminate, but since they don't make it anymore, I'll probably have to find some wood of the same thickness to use underneath. I could really use some advice on how to tackle this whole repair. Where should I even begin? Do I need to remove the countertops? Can I just cut out the subfloor beneath the dishwasher? And how thick should the replacement subfloor be? This is my biggest home repair to date, and I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed! Any tips would be awesome.

I agree with HomeFixer! Don’t stress too much about it. You can certainly DIY this if you're comfortable. Just ensure the area is dry before replacing any flooring and that you clean up any debris properly. If you ever feel it’s more than you can handle, hiring a pro is always a safe bet, but I think you can swing this!

It sounds like quite the project! Since you've laid laminate before, you definitely have a head start. Yes, it is a floating floor, and you can cut out the damaged subfloor without removing the countertops. Just make sure to measure the thickness of your current subfloor so you can match it with your replacement. Take your time with the removal and be cautious of any plumbing or electrical lines near the dishwasher. You got this!

Thanks for the encouragement! I'll make sure to check the thickness before I buy anything.
