Dealing with Dog Poop as a Landscaper: What Should I Do?

I've just started my journey as a landscaper, and I've been noticing that some yards I work in are full of dog poop. It's a bit awkward for me, and honestly, I'd feel embarrassed if I were the homeowner. At what point should I bring it up, and how should I handle this situation?

Consider adding poop cleanup to your list of services. You can make it a mandatory step before doing any landscaping work. Just be sure to set a higher price for the cleanup service—it can help cover the extra effort and hassle.

We have a system we call 'poop patrol' where we clean up the yard a day before our lawn guy comes over. Sure, we might miss a spot now and then, but we have a fenced-in area that's about a third of an acre, so it’s manageable!

One approach you can take is to bring along a trash bag and a pooper scooper. Just scoop up the poop before you start your work. You could even include a 'waste disposal fee' on your bill if you want to charge extra for the cleanup. Just make sure to ask the homeowner for approval beforehand, so they’re not caught off guard.
