Hey everyone! I have a bit of a unique request. I'm working on a craft project that requires real rose thorns, and I need about three handfuls. We have several rose bushes, and I'm wondering what's the best way to carefully remove the thorns without damaging the bushes or the thorns themselves. I was thinking pliers could work, but I'm concerned about crushing them. Any tips would be really appreciated! Thanks for your insights in advance!

Using an Xacto knife is a great idea! It gives you more control and should help you avoid damaging the thorns. Plus, you can be precise about what you take off.
Consider cutting off any branches that are dead or not needed anymore, letting those dry out, and then using a fine saw to get the thorns. Just be careful, as it's tricky to remove them without injuring the stem.
Totally didn’t think about dead branches! Great suggestion!
You can remove thorns by pushing them sideways; they should pop right off without harming the plant at all, especially if you're just taking a handful. Also, fun fact: what we call thorns on roses are technically not true thorns—they're called prickle!
Thanks for the tip! That's super helpful to know!

Perfect! I have one and it seems like I’m all set. Thanks!
