Can I Use a Solar Edge SE10000A Inverter with Batteries Alone?

I'm considering buying a used Solar Edge SE10000A inverter to power a detached small home using only batteries and solar energy. My plan is to initially use the inverter as a backup during short power outages and later incorporate a solar array to charge the batteries, eventually disconnecting from the grid entirely. However, I'm unsure whether this inverter can be connected directly to a battery bank as a DC input without solar panels, or if it strictly requires those and power optimizers. Can anyone clarify?

Unfortunately, this inverter isn't going to work for your intended setup. The MPPTs in the SE10000A are designed for solar panels, not high current battery sources. They won't operate properly without being connected to the grid, so you'll need to look for a dedicated off-grid inverter instead.

To power a small house off-grid using batteries and solar, you'd be better off with an off-grid inverter like the EG4 12000XP. It can either use grid power to charge the batteries when available or run entirely on battery power when the grid is down, which seems to match your needs perfectly!
