Is the Rustoleum Concrete Patch Worth Using for My Basement?

Asked By ConcreteJunkie84 On

I recently purchased some Rustoleum concrete patch from Menards to fill in some holes in my basement floor caused by tack strips. I'm curious if this product is reliable enough, or if I should seriously consider going for a self-leveling concrete that I can mix myself. Bonding is important since I plan to install luxury vinyl plank (LVP) soon. Also, does living in the upper Midwest affect my choice?

I've had vinyl patch in my floor for years, and it has held up fine.

If you're installing floating LVP, you might not even need to fill those holes. But if you want to fill them, I'd recommend using a skim coat compound like Ardex or Henry Feather Finish instead. Self-leveling concrete is great for larger areas, but it’s a hassle for filling small holes.

Thanks, will do! I just want to make sure I don’t have warped or creaky LVP when it’s all said and done.

Good point! Feather Finish is way better for small holes. Thx!

I've used concrete vinyl patch for repairs in my garage, and it did a great job fixing cracks and mouse holes. It’s surprisingly durable!
