Hey everyone! I'm new to using power drills and I could really use some advice to avoid damaging my gear. I have a few specific questions:
1. When hand-tightening a drill bit into the chuck, I hear it click when it's secured, as per the manual. I usually keep tightening until I can't turn the black sleeve anymore, which often leads to 3 or 4 clicks. Am I at risk of damaging the drill by tightening it this much?
2. After using a 4-5/8" Lenox hole saw with a matching arbor, I notice a loud metallic clank when I stop the drill suddenly. It seems like the drive pins might not fit perfectly, which causes the noise. Is this something to worry about, or is it normal?
3. The Lenox hole saw isn't perfectly circular when it spins; there's a slight wobble. Is this how hole saws typically perform?
Thanks in advance for any help!

1. No worries! It's actually designed to handle being tightened that way, so you're not damaging it by clicking it 3 or 4 times.
2. That clanking sound is probably normal. It's just the drill's brake kicking in when you release the trigger to stop it from spinning.
3. About the wobble, hole saws do tend to have a bit of variance. It’s common and helps with clearing wood chips while you're cutting. You're good!
To add to your first point: yep, normal. And regarding the clank noise, it’s because of the brake that stops it smoothly. That slight wobble is actually beneficial.
I'm with you on tightening until it won’t budge anymore. It keeps the bit secure and I've never had an issue with my drills doing that.
I’ll stick to hand tightening until it feels snug. Thanks for the tip, Cadman!

Thanks for your insight, mogrifier! It's reassuring to know these noises are normal.
