I've been battling with some thoughts about my power tools lately. I recently sold my Festool track saw because I wasn't happy with the battery platform and didn't have any other tools that used it. I originally planned to buy a new Dewalt track saw, but I'm now considering whether I should switch to the Makita 40V system after hearing so many good things about it. I'm wondering if I should make the leap and transition all my Dewalt Flexvolt tools to Makita, especially since I find their tools appear to be higher quality and I'm particularly interested in the Makita track saw and beam saw, which is unique to their range in Australia. I'm weighing my options: 1) Just buy the Dewalt track saw and move on. 2) Go all in on Makita—get their track saw and a complete carpentry kit, sell all my Dewalt gear despite the costs, and stock up on batteries. 3) Buy the Makita track saw and keep my Dewalt tools for now, but that means juggling multiple battery platforms while I replace my Dewalt tools over time. What do you all think?

It really depends on what works best for you! If you're 100% committed to not mixing battery platforms, then sticking with Dewalt might be your best bet. But if you've got the chance and budget to test out the Makita tools, I'd say go for it. They have a solid reputation, and you might find you prefer them. Plus, Dewalt does have a generous return policy so you could try out the track saw first and see how you feel about it.
I can’t see myself switching my whole collection just for a couple of tools, especially when I love my DeWalt track saw. But if you think Makita offers features that suit your needs better, why not test them? It's also a bit silly to get so caught up in battery platforms; many pros mix and match without issues. Do what feels right for you, not for anyone else!
Honestly, every brand has its ups and downs. If you feel Makita's tools have the edge for you, it might be worth the switch. I have both Dewalt and Makita in my kit. I appreciate the variety it gives me. I’ve been super happy with my Makita track saw—it's known for its accuracy and ease of use. At the end of the day, it’s about what helps you do your job best!
That accuracy is definitely appealing! I’ve heard great things about it.

That's a good point! I guess the mix-and-match approach can work for many.
