I've got some noisy birds and I'm looking to soundproof just the one wall that connects to my neighbors. I initially thought about using those foam squares, but I've heard they might not be as effective as people say. Can anyone suggest what I could use or recommend a better approach?

You're right about soundproofing; it's more about damping those sound vibrations. The best method would involve decoupling the wall with Z-channels and hanging 5/8" sheetrock, although that’s a bit involved. You could also add rock wool insulation and use caulk to help seal everything up. Just keep in mind, there aren't any truly simple and cheap methods for effective soundproofing!
If you're looking for affordable options, hanging a heavy rug or investing in some soundproofing curtains could help a lot. They can absorb some of the noise and might make a noticeable difference without breaking the bank.
