How Can I Soundproof Between Floors in My New Home?

I built my house three years ago and have recently noticed some sound issues that I wish my builders had addressed. I'm looking for effective ways to soundproof between floors, especially concerning a bedroom directly above our main bedroom. We have beautiful hardwood floors and tongue-and-groove ceilings, so simply adding more drywall won't be straightforward. Right now, this space is a guest room, but since we're preparing for another baby, soundproofing it has become a higher priority. There's already a thick wool rug and pad covering about 65% of the floor, but I still hear conversations and footsteps from above. What are some feasible solutions that won't disrupt my new home too much?

Honestly, the best time to insulate is during construction or major renovations. Since you're not keen on touching your walls or ceiling, options can be limited. You might have to live with some noise unless you're willing to make some bigger changes.

Acoustic panels could help with muffling voices in both rooms, but they won't do much for vibrations from footsteps. If you're looking for effective soundproofing, you might have to take down the ceiling, add insulation, and then re-install it. I know it's a hassle, but that might give you the results you're really after.

Yeah, it sounds painful, but I guess it's worth considering for better peace and quiet!
