Does Planting by the Moon Really Help with Gardening?

I've recently learned about planting by the moon from a friend in Kentucky. They mentioned using the Farmer's Almanac for this purpose, and while I've looked at the site for a short-term planting forecast, I don't have an account for long-term planning. I'm curious how effective this method is; my friend uses it without knowing if it's really beneficial. For instance, today and tomorrow (Feb 27 & 28) are great planting days in Florida, and I find that having these deadlines really motivates me. Is anyone else following this practice? Do you think it makes a difference in gardening success?

I used to think planting by the moon was just some hippie nonsense. It doesn't seem to hurt, but I haven't seen significant benefits either. It's just a personal belief for me.

From one hippie to another, I feel the same way. I don’t think it hurts, but I'm not sold on its advantages.

Absolutely! I've been doing it, and my yields are awesome, plus I have a good planting schedule. There are plenty of resources on YouTube that support this method. The old timers relied on it for their survival, and many still do today. It’s definitely worth trying out; you’ve got nothing to lose!

I’m definitely trying this! It helps me stay organized. I wonder though, do you stick to the recommended harvest dates too?

When I first started gardening in KY, my neighbor told me my crops wouldn’t do well because of the moon phases. I thought he was joking, but it turned out great regardless! I've had years with great yields and some not so great, but I've never really focused on the moon.

There are many factors to consider for good yields, not just the moon phases. I think it's more about taking everything into account rather than worrying about it.
