How Can I Convert My Old Wellhead to Ground Level?

I've got a house from 1943, and last winter the water in the well house froze four times, which stopped the flow but thankfully didn't cause any damage. I'm looking for advice on converting the well setup to a standard well pipe so I can move the pressure tank inside the house and fill in the well house with dirt. Any ideas on how to achieve this?

It looks like you already have standard 1" PVC, so you're off to a good start! If you want to bring your pressure tank inside, you can definitely do that. Just run the existing PVC line straight to the tank inside your house. The pipe itself doesn't need to change, but do consider adding some insulation or heat tape if you're worried about freezing in the future!

That's right, just keep everything intact as it is but in a heated area. You'll be in good shape!

We had to upgrade our well for a sale recently, and it cost us a bit, but it was totally worth the investment. Make sure you have a good spot inside for the pressure tank where the water line comes in. You may need to do some rewiring for the pressure switch, but hopefully you won’t have to dig too much. Consider consulting a pro to help with the conversion!

I've got the space prepped inside already, and I just replumbed the house!

Moving the tank into the house sounds great, but do think twice about filling in the wellhead with dirt. You’ll want to maintain access to it just in case. Maybe look into better insulation or heat tape to prevent freezing instead!

For sure! Keeping access is key. Heating options sound promising too!
