Hi everyone! After two decades of using my old washer and gas dryer, I'm finally upgrading with a delivery set for Tuesday. Honestly, I haven't been great at cleaning behind them or checking the connections, mostly because my home's 101-year-old concrete floor has a bit of a slope toward a drain, making it a challenge to move them around. I'm planning to pull the dryer and washer out tomorrow to tidy up, blow out the vent pipe, and check that all the vent connections are secure and taped properly.
Also, I'm going to lay down some linoleum to help with future sliding in and out. But since it's been 20 years, I have a couple of questions:
1. Is there anything else I should do to prepare before the delivery?
2. What should I look out for during the installation to avoid issues later on?
Thanks for any tips you might have!

Definitely grab new water connection hoses! Make sure your flexible dryer exhaust line is the foil type instead of the older plastic ones. Also, double-check if the electrical outlet for the dryer matches what your new one needs. Don’t forget to adjust the feet to prevent any wobbling when it's running!
You might want to consider building a small platform to ensure it’s level, especially if you have front-loading machines. It could save you from having to use shims in the long run!
Just a heads-up: if you purchased from certain stores, they might require you to get new vent hoses and water lines, especially if it’s a non-standard install. Make sure the shipping bolts are removed, and they level the units properly. Inspect everything for damage and run them before the delivery crew leaves, because once they do, you might have a hard time with returns or exchanges.
Thanks for the reminder! I’ll make sure to do those checks and run them before they leave.

Thanks for the advice! I've already planned to get new water lines, I’ll check the dryer exhaust for sure. Since it's a gas dryer, I didn't think I had to worry about the electrical outlet, but I'll check just in case. I'm also getting shims to make sure it's stable.
