I'm working on venting my bathroom fan to an external eave, but I've run into a bit of a challenge. I have a 4" exhaust vent and hose ready to go, but I can't access the eaves from the attic. Instead of venting through the roof, I'm considering cutting a larger hole, about 6x6 inches, in the eave. My plan is to attach the vent to a cover piece that's slightly larger, so I can access both sides of the vent before securing it to the hole. Is this a solid idea, or is there a better solution I should consider?

Yeah, your idea sounds solid! If getting into the attic isn’t an option, going through the eave like you suggested should work fine. Just make sure to use insulated duct where possible to keep condensation issues at bay. I also recommend using rigid duct whenever you can, as the flexible stuff can reduce airflow considerably. Plus, angle the duct towards the outside to let any condensation drain out rather than back into your fan.

Thanks for confirming and for the advice. I appreciate the reply!
