Hey everyone! I'm a home workshop enthusiast trying to decide between getting a table saw or a band saw for my next big tool purchase. I initially wanted a table saw, but after browsing through various discussions, I've seen a lot of people emphasize the benefits of a band saw instead, especially those who use hand tools. Currently, I mainly work with hardwoods (about 70%) and sheet goods (30%). My planned projects include small cabinets and furniture like end tables, so I'm unsure which tool would complement my setup better. For reference, I have several tools, including a Festool TS60 with rails for sheet goods, an 8" jointer, a Dewalt planer, routers, and dust collection systems. I'm considering a Laguna 14/12 band saw or a 1.75hp Sawstop PCS table saw. While I'm leaning towards the table saw, I'm now questioning if I'm overlooking the advantages of the band saw. What do you think?

It really depends on your specific needs. The table saw is made for precision cuts and complex joinery, which sounds like it'll be beneficial for your upcoming projects. But don't forget that band saws are incredible for curves and resawing, so if that interests you, it might be worthwhile to add one later!
I have both and tend to use the band saw for curves and resawing, but the table saw for nearly everything else. If you're planning precision cuts—like dadoes and grooves—the table saw is your best bet. It’ll save you a lot of hassle in the long run!
I'd say go for the table saw. It really depends on what you plan to make, but for general woodworking, it’s a must-have. Plus, once you get into it, you'll likely want more tools anyway!
I believe table saws are the workhorses of the shop. They’re fantastic for precision and can handle a variety of tasks. If you keep using your track saw for larger sheet goods, it’ll work well with a table saw for accurate cuts. In my experience, it's tough to beat the versatility of a table saw.

Totally agree! The versatility of the table saw is unbeatable, especially if you’re aiming for cleaner and more accurate cuts.
