I'm new to HVAC installations and am considering switching to Milwaukee tools. Currently, I'm using a basic 20V DeWalt drill, which just doesn't cut it for tasks like swaging pipe. I'm curious if the M12 hammer drill can match up to the power of the M18 version. What do you all think?

I got the M12 and while it works fine for most jobs, I often wish I’d gone for the M18. The extra power helps with those trickier tasks, plus in the long run, it’s worth the investment for a pro setup.
As an HVAC technician, I’d say go for the M18. While the M12 fuel impact is great for lighter tasks like sheet metal or wood screws, the M12 hammer drill just doesn’t have the power needed for tougher jobs. It can overheat when you push it too hard. If you're often dealing with vent holes or heavier materials, the M18 is definitely the way to go. Plus, with its combination, you can tackle more without overwhelming your bag.
Exactly! Each tool serves its purpose, but if you plan to be on-site often, M18's power makes life significantly easier.
For a DIYer, I've used both and I have to say, the M18 is hands down the better choice for anyone working consistently with tougher materials. You’ll appreciate the efficiency!

Absolutely! In HVAC, you'll find yourself needing a variety of tools, and weight does matter. You want a balance between size and versatility. The M12 is excellent for many tasks, but I wouldn’t rely on it for heavy-duty drilling.
