I'm looking to replace some old arched double casement windows in my house, which was built in 1988. These wooden windows (about 45x65 inches) are not standard size, and a few have rot problems. A local company recently quoted me $88,000 for just four of these windows and one more in the basement. This seems excessive, like $20,000 per window. The guy was really friendly and even suggested switching to square windows and patching the exterior stucco. I'm curious if anyone has had a similar experience or if there are any window pros who can advise me on whether this quote is reasonable or if I'm being scammed.

I replaced all my windows last year and got about ten quotes before deciding. It's important to think about whether you want wood or vinyl, and whether you're going for full replacements or inserts. Oh, and steer clear of Renewal by Andersen—they're notorious for being overpriced!
Your quote actually sounds like it could be in the ballpark, especially for arched windows. These tend to cost 3-5 times more than regular options because of their shape and custom nature.
You should definitely get at least three quotes before making a decision. It’s amazing how much prices can vary between contractors.

I feel like there’s a story there… care to share?
