What’s the best way to fix a shower curtain rod brace that was pulled out of the ceiling?

So, my kids got a little too adventurous and managed to pull the brace for our shower curtain rod right out of the ceiling. This brace is really important since it supports the front half of a U-shaped rod, while the other ends are mounted to the wall. I've attached a picture to show you the damage: https://i.imgur.com/aEghkHL.jpeg. I really need to remount this brace soon so my kids can use their shower again.

The original anchor holes were perfect, but now I'm worried that the new holes won't support a proper repair. This is drywall, and from what I can tell, there aren't any studs nearby. I could use some advice from those with experience on how to fix this issue!

It looks like you might have some plastic drywall anchors in there. A quick fix could be to enlarge the holes and use some butterfly bolts instead. If you want to go all out, you could cut out a section of drywall, install a 2x4 for support, screw it in, and then patch up afterwards. But honestly, the bolts are probably the quicker fix!

Using toggle bolts can definitely work! You could likely just reuse the existing holes and pop in some new toggles. If you want a sturdier fix, consider installing blocking if you can access that area from the attic.

You could try taking off the drywall where the brace was. Then, install some blocking between the beams for a stronger hold before putting in a drywall patch. That way, you’ll have something solid to screw into when you remount the brace.
