Advice Needed on Claiming Lifetime Warranty for Champion Windows

Hey everyone! I recently snagged a house from an estate sale, but it needs a ton of work—especially the windows. Almost all of them are fogged up because of broken seals. I found out that these are Champion Windows and they might have a lifetime warranty, but here's the catch: I'm not the original owner, and I have no way to contact her anymore. I'm wondering how I should go about trying to get Champion to honor the warranty. Should I just say the windows are in great shape and try to get the warranty transferred to me first? Or should I just be upfront about it? Are there any specific steps I should follow to avoid messing this up? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Just a heads up about those 'lifetime' warranties. They can be kind of tricky. Sometimes 'lifetime' refers to the original owner, or even just the expected lifespan of the windows—it's not always what it sounds like! Good luck with the process!

Haha, right? It's a long shot, but I’ll do whatever it takes to avoid replacing all of them!

Have you thought about reaching out to them yet? I’d recommend calling them like you’re a potential customer. Just ask about the warranty and whether it’s transferable. That way, you can get a feel for their policy directly.

I haven't called them yet. Just trying to come up with the best plan before I reach out, haha!

You might just need to locate the window code sticker, which is typically found under the top sash. A home inspector pointed it out to us before we sold our house and it saved us a ton! Sometimes they just ask for shipping costs in return for free replacements.

Thanks for the tip! I couldn't find any numbers in the frames except for "champion duel glaze" between the panes. I’ll have to check more thoroughly tomorrow.
