I've been meticulously checking my cucumber and zucchini plants daily, trying to keep pests at bay, but I'm facing some serious issues. I've already lost three cucumber plants to bacterial wilt and my zucchinis fell victim to squash vine borers. My husband and I found larvae inside the plants during a mini surgery session! While I'm hopeful for the few plants left, I'm worried about the possibility of hornworms showing up next. Despite the challenges, I've managed to harvest some veggies, including a few zucchinis and cucumbers for pickling. Has anyone else experienced similar pest problems late in the season?

Yeah, it's been a tough summer for pests all around! I confirmed with fellow gardeners that many are struggling with the same issues. I set up a children's popup tent made of mosquito mesh for my container garden to protect them from those pesky loopers. They still get plenty of sunlight and rain, and I'm hoping to get more tents next year for my vines!

That’s a clever idea! I made a bug net for my zucchini last year, but it was a pain to pollinate. A big mosquito tent sounds way easier to manage!
