I'm trying to reduce how often I fill my ollas for watering. I was thinking about covering each olla with a food-safe 5-gallon bucket that has a hole in the bottom. I would also add a float valve to keep the olla filled up. Would this be a good or bad idea?

That sounds like a solid plan! Using buckets to keep your ollas filled could save you a lot of hassle. Just make sure the float valve works smoothly, so you don't accidentally overfill it or cause any leaks.
You might want to check out Blumats instead, which are designed specifically for this kind of watering system. They can help you manage the moisture levels more easily. By the way, what's a blumat? Seems like I missed something there!
