I have a Vortex KBC Poker II mechanical keyboard that's been through a lot. The microUSB port broke ages ago, likely due to constant travel. I tried to de-solder the broken port in hopes of replacing it myself, but I was pretty clueless back then and gave up. Now I see that the new microUSB replacement doesn't fit quite right since the pins don't align with the PCB holes. So, I'm wondering: is this port an easy fix? What's the best way to solder it back on? Is there any way to convert it to USB-C with an adapter or integrated connector? And honestly, is it worth my time or should I just get a better quality microUSB port?

A. Absolutely, just look into surface mount soldering techniques online.
B. The durability of USB-C is a bonus, but you're diving into a complex conversion there. Not to mention the potential headache it could cause.
I'm glad to hear your pads are intact. Just keep an eye on the leads from your previous attempt at de-soldering.
A. "Easy" is definitely a matter of perspective! I find it simple, but it might be trickier for you.
B. You’ll need a fine tip soldering iron, the right temperature, and a steady hand for sure. If the pads are damaged, you’ll have to repair those first before trying to solder.
B again: Yep, you can go for the USB-C conversion but be warned, it won’t just drop in. You may need to modify your keyboard case to make that fit.
C. With some care, you shouldn’t have future issues. A little epoxy might help stabilize the connection too!
