I'm looking to surprise my boyfriend with a gift that supports his new passion for plants. He has a small purple orchid that unfortunately didn't make it, but he also has a pothos that's thriving in a cute wooden rectangular pot. I'm hoping to find a beginner-friendly plant for him, ideally one that's easy to care for, but avoid succulents since he's not a fan. Any suggestions? Also, I'm open to ideas for plant gadgets or equipment to help him out. He enjoys neat and cute items!

How about a Hedera helix? It's fun because it grows downwards quickly, which looks great in high places. Plus, it’s forgiving with watering. Just keep in mind that it only has leaves, no colorful blossoms. Another cool option could be a Monstera adansonii (Swiss cheese plant) which is similar to pothos but with a unique twist!
You might want to check out some syngoniums (arrow vines) or an oxalis (purple clover) as well. I’d also recommend some high-quality moss poles for climbing plants since his pothos can be trained to grow bigger leaves with a little support. And don’t forget about planting lights; they’re super handy during winter months! As for vases, consider pretty glass ones for water or hydroponics!
You could consider getting him a snake plant or a ZZ plant; they’re both super easy to care for and look stylish! For gadgets, a self-watering pot would be a great choice, and you could also throw in a small humidity monitor. It’s a perfect combo of practicality and cuteness!
