Help! My DeWalt 20V MAX XR Drill Won’t Charge—What Should I Do?

Hey everyone! I'm a 30-year-old woman who's trying to be independent after a recent move and divorce—doing all my installations by myself, which is a huge step for me! I've had my DeWalt 20V MAX XR cordless drill for about three years and it worked perfectly until recently. While mounting a TV (a big achievement for me), the drill started stopping unexpectedly. I thought the battery had died, so I put it on the charger. The charger showed a static red light, so I left it overnight. The next day, no luck—just a two-second drill before it turned off again. The charger flashed yellow at first but quickly went back to red when I released it. I even had to hold the drill upside down and press down hard to make it flash. I'm really anxious about my half-mounted TV, which is currently held up by a stepstool. Can anyone help me figure out what's going on? I've attached two videos for reference. Thanks!

It sounds like your battery might be completely drained to the point where the charger can’t recognize it. I had a similar issue, and there are YouTube videos showing how you can temporarily 'boost' the battery using another 20V battery—just connect them for about 5 to 10 minutes. This might get it back to a chargeable state. Just be careful while doing this! You might also want to check the connection for any corrosion or debris that could be causing issues.

Have you tried the old-school trick? Just like with those Nintendo game cartridges—take it out, blow on it, and stick it back in. Sometimes a little shake-up is all it needs! You may need to hold it in place for a few minutes, but it could get your drill back in working order.
