Hey everyone! I'm looking at a home to buy that I really like, but I have a concern. The layout feels really compartmentalized. I'm hoping to find ways to open up the kitchen, breakfast nook, and living room areas to create a more open feel. I'd like to keep the laundry room near the back door and ideally have the half bath close by as well. Am I being unrealistic? I even had a thought about potentially moving the stair opening to the foyer, but that feels a bit far-fetched. What do you all think? Honestly, I think you're setting yourself up for a huge project if you want to open up those spaces. It might require a complete overhaul, possibly costing around $100k or more. So, just prepare yourself for that kind of investment if you really want to go for it!
It might be a better idea to just buy as-is if it requires that much work.
You might consider taking down the wall between the kitchen and dining area. If there isn't a pass-through already, adding a breakfast bar could really create a more connected vibe!

Yeah, that's kind of what I expected. Thanks for the heads up!
