I recently had a fireplace installed, but I'm noticing that the grout color isn't uniform. It should be a lighter grey, but there are several spots where the grout looks completely different. I've heard that the mixing process can influence the color, but my contractor insists they haven't encountered this before. I'm curious whether this issue can be remedied easily or if it's going to require extensive work, like replacing all the brick veneer, which sounds like a major hassle. Any advice would be appreciated!

It seems like you might be dealing with something common in masonry. The color inconsistency could be due to the grout being mixed in separate batches, which can happen when jobs take longer than expected. Variations in water-to-powder ratios can also affect the color. While it's not highly noticeable to some, I can understand how it feels more obvious to you. Unfortunately, the solution usually involves removing the grout and redoing it, which is quite a process. Sorry to say it might not be an easy fix!
I totally get why you're concerned! Mortar comes in lots, meaning one batch may not fully match another. Ideally, the contractor should have used the same mix and worker for the whole job, but that isn't always the case. If it bothers you enough, I’d suggest having them redo it completely, even if it sounds like a big job; it's better to get it right the first time!
Thanks for clarifying that! It's good to know what might have gone wrong.

That's frustrating! I would definitely push for them to rectify it since you’re not happy with the look.
