I'm in search of a respirator that's safe for lacquer use. Currently, I'm using a 3M model that I thought was appropriate, but I'm still catching a whiff of the finish. Has anyone found a respirator that truly keeps those fumes at bay?

There are loads of filter options out there, and using the right ones can make a big difference. Check out the 3M filter guide to help you pick the best filters for your project. That should point you in the right direction!
Have you checked if your current cartridges are rated for VOCs? It's important! Also, make sure there’s a good seal between the respirator and your face—any facial hair can cause leaks. If the cartridges are old or heavily used, that could be why you're smelling the finish. You might want to consider switching to a full-face respirator for extra eye protection since you're serious about your lung health.
