How Many Studs Do I Need to Secure My 100lb Mirror?

Hey everyone! I'm a bit nervous about hanging a hefty 100lb full-length mirror in my small salon suite. There's only one stud where I want to mount it, but I could shift it over to reach two studs if necessary. The mirror has a French cleat mounting bracket on the back. Do I really need to secure it to two studs, or can I just use one? Any tips would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Make sure to use lag bolts on the studs for that extra security! If you're only using one stud, consider toggle anchors for the other holes on the cleat to help distribute the weight.

If you can span two studs with a board, that’s a solid option. You could paint the board to match your wall, and mount it securely, then hang the mirror on it. It’ll keep everything nice and straight!

That mirror is a beast! If it were mine, I’d definitely try to get it secured to two studs if at all possible. Since it's flat against the wall, a lot of the weight is pushed down toward the floor, but it's still way safer with two points of support.
