Should I Add Flashing Tape to My Newly Installed Windows?

I just got brand new windows installed in my ranch house, replacing some that were 35 years old. I've realized that I forgot to put flashing tape over the nailing fin. I've already trimmed and caulked a few of the windows, but I'm wondering if I should take the trim off to add the flashing tape now. The old windows didn't have any flashing, and I haven't noticed any water issues in the house. I've also applied caulk between the fin and the Tyvek. What do you all think?

Definitely put that flashing tape on! It’s going to save you a lot of trouble down the line. Trust me, knowing you did it the right way will give you peace of mind!

I would recommend removing the trim and adding the flashing. It’ll make a big difference in the long run and you don’t want to risk water getting in. Plus, once you finish the rest of the windows, you’ll be way more experienced at this!

Agreed! Even if there haven't been any issues so far, it's better to be safe. Fixing it now will definitely pay off later.

If you haven't done it already, make sure you wrap each opening properly, starting from the bottom and working up. It's crucial for preventing leaks!
