Can I use a dust collector with a leaf blower to clean my shop?

I'm curious if it's possible to use a dust collector in conjunction with a leaf blower to remove dust from my workshop. My wife thinks it's a bad idea to use a leaf blower for indoor dusting, but I'm focused on our shop that has a powerful dust collector. If I open one of the ducts and aim the leaf blower to blow dust into that corner, will the dust collector effectively suck it up?

Just a heads-up, pulling air through the duct can be a bit tricky. The suction power decreases significantly the farther you are from the end, so you might not capture enough dust. Imagine trying to move a balloon using a straw—blowing works way better than sucking. You might want to consider investing in an air cleaner for better results.

If you have an exterior door or a garage door, I recommend using that instead. Just crack it open and let the dust escape outside. You could even set up some box fans to help blow the dust out. I've tried using a duct with a dust collector, but it didn't clean up everything. It just helped circulate the dust around a bit more. But hey, it might work; at worst, you still have a dusty shop!

Absolutely give it a shot! Just make sure you blow the dust into that corner and not outside. I do something similar in my half-garage shop: I open the doors, set up fans blowing outward, and use a leaf blower to get the dust airborne. It works out pretty well for me!
