What Are These Exhausts in My Attic and Why Do I Need Them?

Hey everyone, I've noticed there are two exhaust pipes in my attic, and I'm not entirely sure why they're there. One appears to be for gas exhaust, but the other seems to be disconnected. I'm wondering if this might have something to do with my neighbor's attic work or if they've been like this for a while. My home is a terraced house in Dublin, built in 2004. Any insights would be appreciated!

If you're in Dublin, houses often have similar setups. The pipes could be for your dryer or bathroom vents too! Having two that are close together isn’t too unusual, but it’s wise to make sure they’re functioning properly. A quick look into your appliances might clear things up.

It sounds like you might be dealing with some type of plumbing vent or heat chimney. Many homes feature these for gas appliances like heaters or fireplaces. If you have a gas heating system or gas fireplace, those exhausts could be essential for venting fumes safely. Just double-check what's connected to them.
