Why Does My Fuse Keep Blowing?

Hey everyone! I recently came back to my camper after being away for two weeks and found that my 30amp AGU fuse blew. This fuse is connected between my 200ah 12v lithium battery and the bus bar. The only load while I was gone was the fridge, along with the Victron charge controller and shunt.

After replacing the fuse, I tried running my generator and converter to charge the battery, but the fuse blew again almost instantly. I'm really unsure why this is happening, especially since I've run the generator and converter together before without any issues. I've heard AGU fuses aren't the best, so I'm considering switching to something better. In the meantime, is it safe to use the lithium battery without a fuse? I do have an AGM battery I could use until I figure this out.

It sounds like you might be dealing with inrush current from the fridge's compressor. When starting up, it can draw significantly more current than its normal running amps – sometimes up to 10 times that amount! If the compressor is older, this inrush could be even higher than expected. I’d suggest getting an ANL fuse if you’re using it with a battery and high current situation.

That's interesting! I have a 3000w generator; any idea what size fuse I should be looking for? I thought 30amps would do, but now I'm worried it might be too low.
