I'm trying to decide between foam and mesh gutter guards for my home. Can anyone explain the benefits of each type and which one might work better in different situations?

It really depends on where you live and the type of debris you're dealing with. In my area, both types of guards don't seem to perform well because of the heavy leaf fall. If you have a lot of pine needles or small leaves, one might work better than the other. Just be sure to consider your local vegetation!
