Do I Need Side Boards for My Dishwasher Installation?

Asked By CuriousCat99 On

I'm installing a new dishwasher where a base cabinet used to be. I've removed all the cabinets, but I'm not sure if I need to put side boards in place before the installer comes, or if I can just add them later. Do I really need these boards for a successful installation?

Nope, you don't actually need side boards! Dishwashers have adjustable feet that can support them on their own as long as they're anchored properly to prevent tipping when the door is open. I even set one up in our basement with just a heavy board on top to keep it stable. You might want to skip the installer and handle it yourself!

Costco included the boards in their installation price, but honestly, it looks pretty easy to do it yourself.
