What’s the best glue for attaching metal brackets to walls?

I'm looking to attach a small L-shaped metal bracket to my wall and I was thinking about using painters tape between the bracket and the wall. What type of glue would be the best for a strong and long-lasting hold?

It sounds like you're trying to stick the bracket to painters tape, but just about any glue you use will be stronger than the tape itself. The downside is that most walls these days are just a thin layer of paper over drywall, so it might not hold well regardless. If you can, consider screwing the bracket into the wall instead; that way, you can patch the screw holes when you're done and avoid damaging the wall finish too much.

Yeah, I get that adding tape might be a temporary fix, but screwing it in sounds like a smarter long-term solution.
