I'm running a 132 ft line from my garage to a 100-amp subpanel in my workshop. Do you think using 1-gauge aluminum wire in a 2-inch PVC conduit will do the job? I'm looking for any advice or insights on this!

From what I see, 1-gauge aluminum isn't quite enough for that application. It's generally recommended to upsize by at least 2 gauges to accommodate for the aluminum wiring. For reference, 1-gauge copper can handle about 119 amps, but aluminum requires a bit more safety margin. If you're planning this run, definitely consider upsizing your wire to ensure it's safe and efficient! You might want to check out some wire size calculators for more details. I've had good luck with the one on Paige Connected.
Yeah, I agree with WiringWizard99 on this one. Upgrading the aluminum size is a smart move. As for fitting it into that 2-inch PVC, I think that should work, but it can depend on the insulation type of the wire. Just double-check the manufacturer's specs to make sure everything fits well!
