What Should I Do About My HVAC System That Was Improperly Serviced?

I'm dealing with a frustrating situation regarding my HVAC system and would appreciate any advice. I previously posted about my HVAC issue and confirmed a refrigerant leak in my old R22 system. After consulting two HVAC companies, both recommended replacing the entire system due to the leak. I then called my home warranty company, and after a three-day wait for a technician, he refilled the unit without properly flushing out the old refrigerant and retrofitting it with new oil. I recently learned this could damage my system, and I'm worried about its future when my warranty expires. How should I proceed, especially since the warranty claims it's not their problem?

It sounds like your unit is nearing the end of its life. Given the substantial leak, it's probably time to consider saving up for a new system. You might be able to stretch the old one through this summer, but budgeting for a replacement should be a priority before the next season kicks in.

I get that. If I replace mine, it’ll wipe out most of my emergency fund too. Plus, I have looming medical expenses to consider. I'm really looking to hold the warranty company accountable for sending out unqualified techs.
