Hey everyone! I'm a fellow Dewalt enthusiast looking to upgrade my tools. I've got a 1/2-inch and a 3/8-inch impact gun. I'm really pleased with the 1/2-inch model, but I'm finding that the 3/8-inch just isn't cutting it anymore. The sockets seem hard to fit on it, and I'm not sure if the hog ring is worn out. I'm considering an upgrade since I work on cars as a hobby and use these tools regularly, even though it's not my day job. I've been browsing online and see so many different models, and I'm not sure which is the newest or the best. Also, I heard that the black Dewalt batteries are oil resistant—any truth to that? I'd really appreciate any recommendations!

For the latest and greatest, I'd say look into the DCF922 with the 5Ah PowerStack. It's oil resistant and packed with features. It's also one of the shortest in its class. I use a mix of Dewalt and Ingersoll, but my DCF890 and DCF900 do wonders, especially with precision mode. Pairing them with some ratchets would be great!
Yes, the oil-resistant batteries will have a little oil symbol on them, so keep an eye out for that. I personally have a 12V 901, a 20V 894 Mid-Torque, and a DCF961 High Torque. I mainly stick to 1/2" because it covers almost everything I need.
To help you out, can you share which models you currently have? I'm a professional mechanic and rely on Dewalt tools, including models like the DCF921, DCF891, and DCF961.

Is there a 3/8 version of that model? And are the black batteries indeed oil resistant? That's what I heard, but I wanted to confirm.
