I'm new to woodworking and looking to set up my shop. I'm interested in buying a miter saw and there are some nice deals on 10" single bevel models during the holidays. My main projects include making toys for my son, along with some light cabinet and furniture work. The compound saw is currently out of my budget, so I'm trying to decide whether to go for the single bevel or wait and save up for the compound. Any advice?

If you're planning to do any crown molding or trim work for your toys or furniture, a compound miter saw would be really useful. It’s worth investing in a good one and pairing it with a high tooth count blade for cleaner cuts that won't need sanding.
Considering the other tools you already have, like a bandsaw and a circular saw, a miter saw might not be essential right now. They're great for quick cuts, but they can take up a lot of space and may not be necessary unless you're working on a lot of trim. If you're tight on space and budget, maybe hold off for now.
Honestly, I wish I had gone for a compound saw instead of the single bevel. The added utility and ability to make longer cuts really make a difference, especially for various projects.
