I've got some wallpaper that was put up back in 1984, and I'm thinking about having it tested for asbestos. My wife thinks I'm worrying too much and insists there's no asbestos in it. Am I overreacting here?

It's understandable to want to be cautious! But honestly, wallpaper typically isn't a source of asbestos. Asbestos was recognized as a problem by the time your wallpaper went up, and they really didn’t use it in wallpapers back then. So it’s likely your wife is right, but if it makes you feel better to test it, go for it! Better safe than sorry!

Yeah, I’d be more worried about flooring or insulation from that era. Wallpaper just isn't a common source.
