Best Brands for Quality Tap and Die Sets?

Asked By ToolLover89 On

I'm in the market for a new tap and die set that comes from older stock, as I'm hoping to find something at a lower price without sacrificing the quality that these traditional tools are known for. What brands have been recognized for making reliable tap and die sets, either in the past or present?

If you’re looking for standard tap and die sets for cutting common metal threads, you should check out Greenfield. I've had great experience with their older sets. Just a heads-up, though: some old taps might not perform as well as new ones, but Greenfield holds a solid reputation for quality.

For those odd-sized taps or dies, I recommend visiting VictorNet. They often have a variety of tools, and while there's a $25 minimum order, I've always managed to find something else I needed to help meet that threshold. Definitely worth checking out if you're in need of something specific!
