I've started gardening this year on my apartment balcony, and overall, things are going pretty well. However, I'm struggling to keep my herbs alive. I've been using a greenstalk with pro mix herb and vegetable soil since April, but so far, only my purple basil has survived. My vegetables are thriving, and I've even harvested some, so I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong with the herbs or if the soil isn't suited for Mediterranean varieties. Any tips would be appreciated!

It sounds like you might need to adjust your watering habits. Most herbs prefer a lighter touch when it comes to watering, especially varieties like thyme and rosemary. If your basil is thriving, it’s possible you might be overwatering your other herbs. Maybe try letting the soil dry out a bit more? Also, consider which herbs you're trying to grow since some struggle with heat.
You might want to think about the pots you’re using. Herbs like oregano thrive in larger containers, around 14" or more. If your herbs are in smaller pots, they might not have enough space to grow strong roots. I’d recommend using your greenstalk for lettuce or smaller plants, and give the larger herbs a decent-sized pot instead!
Check the heat levels as well. Some herbs just don't handle high temperatures well. Make sure they have some shade during the hottest parts of the day if you’re in a really sunny spot. Consistent watering is key too—getting a feel for when to water will make a big difference!
Totally agree! I’ve learned that some herbs just can’t hack it in direct sun all day. A little morning sun and afternoon shade seems to work wonders.

Yeah, exactly! I had similar issues with my herbs before I figured out their water needs. It really varies from one to another.
