Can I Use 2×6 Lumber for This Bench Design Instead of 4×6?

I'm looking at this bench plan, and I have a bunch of 2x6 lumber available. Is it possible to adapt the design to use 2x6 instead of 4x6? I'm thinking about doubling up the legs for support but keeping the seat as 2x6. Would that work?

Honestly, I like using even thinner wood. A bit of flex can make your seat more comfortable! Just remember, it’s not like you’re parking a truck on it.

For a bench, there's really no need to stick with 4x6's unless you're going for a specific look. Just build the entire thing with the 2x6's. It’ll still be solid and serve its purpose just fine!

Definitely, you can use 2x6's! While 4x6's are super sturdy, the bench is just for sitting, so you'll be fine with 2x6's as long as you support it well.
