Hey everyone! I've been really getting into plants since April last year and have ended up with 17 of them (and 5 more on the way, lol). I'm totally in love with succulents because they're so expressive and lively. However, I've started to realize that I have some plants I adore and others that just don't vibe with me at all. I'm especially fond of sedum and kalanchoes, and I really like indoor trees too. But my aeonium? I just can't seem to connect with it; it feels so fragile and dainty. I even feel a bit guilty about it! Anyone else experience the same? What do you usually do with plants you don't want to keep around? I'm thinking of just neglecting them for a bit or maybe gifting them to someone who would appreciate them more. I'd love to hear your thoughts, experiences, and your own favorite and least favorite succulents!

For sure! It's normal to have dislikes. I have a few lithops I just can't stand, while I absolutely love haworthias. If I don't like a plant, I just sell it at my little outside shop. That way, it finds a new home and I get space for more of my faves!
Totally get where you're coming from! When I first started collecting succulents, I was happy to get any I could find. But now I've become more selective. I used to keep plants that felt 'meh' to me, but I've learned to let them go and focus on the ones I truly enjoy taking care of! Giving away plants can be a nice way to share your passion, too!
I've been in that boat, too. It's essential to clear out the plants that don't work for you, just as much as it is to find ones you love. For me, my least favorites tend to mysteriously die off, probably because I just don't care for them the same way. And, yeah, I've also had some plants that are just plain annoying but still alive—like my polka dot plant. It's been hanging on for years, and I'm just waiting for it to finally give in!
Oh yes, I know the struggle! There was this haworthia I had that I actually tried to kill because I disliked it so much, but it just wouldn’t die! So, I ended up giving it to a friend. I think it’s perfectly normal to not vibe with every plant. Just like with anything else, some just don't hit right!
I've gone through phases of loving certain genera then disliking them later. It really is part of the process. I have plants I don’t particularly like that somehow still thrive. It's all about finding the right balance between what you enjoy and what works for you!

Haha, that sounds like my aeonium! I just can't quite get rid of it either. I guess we all have those plants we cling to, even if they don't bring us joy!
