Got a Built-in Dishwasher I Never Use—What Should I Do with the Space?

I have a standard size dishwasher under my countertop, but I never use it. I'm thinking of ways to utilize that space instead. Any creative ideas for what I can put there?

It's hard to believe you're not using your dishwasher! A simple idea is to turn it into storage for pots and pans. My grandma did that with her oven, and it worked out great! You could stack pots on the bottom and lids on top. Super convenient!

Exactly what I do! Pots on the bottom, lids on top—saves so much space.

Interesting! My grandmother had two ovens—one for cooking and one for storage. I think it’s a habit from her past that just stuck.

If it were up to me, I’d leave the space open and tidy it up a bit. You might need to clean or repair the flooring due to water damage, but it could be a great spot for a small kitchen step stool or even additional storage. You could also consider putting in a mini fridge or some cabinets—lots of options!

If you want to make the most of it, why not install a wine fridge or an ice maker? They’d be perfect since it’s near a water line. One of my friends has an ice nugget maker, and it’s fantastic for parties. A trash compactor could also fit, leaving just a bit of space for storage afterward.
