I just picked up an Incra 1000se miter gauge, but I'm running into an issue. When I try to cut a wider board, the miter bar gets unstable if pulled too far back. I'm using a Dewalt contractor table saw with it. Has anyone else faced this problem? Should I consider switching to a miter gauge with a sled instead? Appreciate any tips!

This isn't exactly a problem, just a quirk of the setup. To safely cut wider boards, you'll need proper support. Maybe consider upgrading to a table saw with a cast iron top for more stability and space? I've got a Unisaw, and it definitely made a difference.
Have you tried flipping the gauge around? That can give you an extra 4-5 inches of cutting space, which can help with stability.
I've had that same Incra model, and yeah, it can be limiting for wider boards. There were times I had to default to my miter saw. Just make sure you've adjusted those plastic washers in the miter slot correctly so it fits snug! That helps a bit.

Wow, I never thought of that! I can see how that would really help with the extra reach.
