I've got a front garden that's currently covered in tiny gravel stones, leftover from when the previous owner had raised beds and gravel paths. After letting the space go a bit while focusing on the inside of the house, I'm looking to start fresh. My vision is to have a grassy area at the center, surrounded by beautiful flower beds filled with colorful shrubs and plants that attract pollinators.
I'm planning to dismantle the raised beds and was thinking about spreading the soil from them over the gravel, topping it with more soil, and then seeding it with grass. However, I'm not sure if that's the best approach. What should I do with all this gravel? Should I:
- Remove it entirely and recycle it?
- Cover it with soil for drainage?
- Consider another option I haven't mentioned?
Any tips would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I suggest using builders bags for the gravel and offering it for free on Gumtree or similar sites. We did that with paving slabs, and it worked wonders. It's an easy solution, and you'll help someone else out at the same time!
Removing the gravel might be the best option. If you cover it with soil and start growing grass, you run the risk of the stones surfacing, which could be damaging when you start mowing. Offering it for free is a solid plan – just make sure you ask for pickup to avoid any hassle!
You might want to gather all that gravel into a pile and offer it on platforms like Freegle. It could be a quick way to get rid of it since many people are looking for free materials for their own gardening projects!
