I'm really not a fan of the standard slip-fit fittings used in most bathroom drain plumbing. Does anyone know if there are alternatives for solvent wending these drains for 1-1/4" pipes? I'm thinking I might need to switch from the slip-fit downpipe for my sink drain to traditional solvent weld PVC, and then change back to a slip-fit fitting for the connection into my wall. Is this even a viable option? Am I just overthinking things?

It's not weird to want something better! Slip compression fittings can work well, but if you're worried about clogs, especially with long hair in the house, consider a setup with cleanout options. It makes maintenance a lot simpler without having to glue everything together. Good luck!
Honestly, if you’re worried about aesthetics, you could try metal. It maintains the slip-joint style but looks a lot nicer than plastic. Just keep in mind, while you can mix fittings, you'll want to ensure they're compatible to avoid future headaches.

True, cleanouts are a game changer! Plus, if you really want to go for a different look, metal fittings might be a nice compromise without getting rid of the slip joints.
