I recently purchased a house and noticed a fair number of dead carpenter ants scattered throughout. In the last week, I've spotted around 12-15 dead ants on the second floor alone, specifically in the living room, dining room, guest bedroom, office, and hallway. The only potential entry point I found is a small hole near the coaxial cable by the attic. Although the inspection showed no pests in the attic and I haven't noticed any moisture problems, I'm still concerned. My exterminator suggested waiting a year, but I'm feeling anxious about it all. Any advice on what steps I should take?

I'd suggest cleaning up the dead ants and keeping an eye out for any more. Since you're new to homeownership, having a pest control service come by could give you peace of mind. It's better to be proactive!
Take a good look around your property for any trees that might be infested, as that could be the source. Try checking at night with a flashlight around the foundation for any signs of ants. If you find any trails, you can use a product like Taurus SC; it worked wonders for me with carpenter ants. I sprayed around the trees and foundation, and they were gone in a couple of days!

Should I be more worried if I’m only finding them on the second floor? Does that mean there might be a nest in the house? I don’t see any tall trees that could lead them up to the roof.
