I have some concerns about a beam in my attic that appears to have dark spots. My house was built in 1973, and although it passed inspection, I'm unsure if what I'm seeing is actual rot or just an illusion from bad lighting. I've had HVAC and two FiOS technicians up there, and I'm assuming if they saw anything wrong, they would have mentioned it. It's tough for me to check since I can't access the attic easily. I don't see anything that looks rotted in your pics. Can you point out what boards are concerning you?
